Tom Walker, a jaded Rough Rider, has a past he’d like to put behind him. What he hopes to find ahead is a short-cut to big money and social status. Princess Calhoun, daughter of oil baron King Calhoun could be exactly what he’s looking for.
Cessy sees herself as a very ordinary, capable, self-reliant woman. But there is a place in her heart that’s been secreting waiting for that one man that she knew destiny would send her way.
When their eyes meet across the torch lights of a Fourth of July celebration they both believe their hopes to be answered. But is a man more than a handsome face? And is a woman more than the fortune she possesses?
Sweet and sexy, this romance set in an unusual American setting is among the best of Pamela Morsi.

Review
Pamela Morsi writes romance directly from the heart! Set in turn-of-the-century Texas, King Calhoun is a wildcatter with big dreams. His daughter, Princess, is just ordinary; not pretty, not smart, she's just a good-hearted woman with a whole lot of spunk. Quite a romantic, Princess falls in love at first sight with Tom Walker, a handsome roughrider. Tom dreams of wealth. If he can't earn it, he's not averse to marrying for it. He poses as a wealthy easterner to woo Princess, but finds--to his dismay--that he has fallen for her. When King and Princess learn of his betrayal, Tom is forced to choose what is of real value.

I read the "free" portion of this book and passed it over many times. It was only after it was offered for .99 that I decided to buy it. Like all of Ms. Morsi's books, it is extremely well written. She has the ability to transport her readers to another time and place. I felt as if I were really at the site of the oil wells and mingling with the people who worked and lived in the area. The secondary characters in this book were a marvel. I loved Ma and Cedarleg and I just wanted to hug the Reverend at the Indian school. The most interesting characters in the book, to me, were Muna and Maloof. Their 'courtship' that wasn't a courtship was just too funny. The scene with the ladies' bloomers had me in stitches. I wanted more of them. I hate to say this, but I just never really found myself caring for the H/h of the book. Princess Calhoun reminded me too much of a woman that I know who is a very nice person but so bossy that I can only be around her a few minutes at a time. And, for someone who is so used to running her own life (and that of others), Princess often acted more like a 13 year old. Tom/Gerald, the fortune-hunter turned sincere bridegroom, was also just TSTL as far as I am concerned. His whole scheme was just unrealistic and silly. For this I am giving 4 stars unlike my usual 5 stars for a book from Ms. Morsi.

Pamela Morsi authors an entertaining read with articulate language, good grammar, an engaging plot and endearing characters. Probably the best endorsement of her work is that I always look forward to and purchase her latest book for my reader.
This story provided a great escape to me as my kindle read it to me while driving. The miles went by quickly because of this charming story. I especially appreciate that the Princess was a real woman who I'd like to know. Loved it!
She has a talent for getting from A to Z with a wealth of background facts, humor and a fascinating plot. You know from the beginning how her books will end up (happily) but getting to that point is so much fun. This one is especially "twisty". Keep them coming, your fans will miss you if you don't.
This was an excellent story about vulnerability, lies and deception, but with truth and love winning out. I really enjoyed the surprise epilogue.
I like many of Pamela Morsi's novels. This is one I find amusing with a plucky, strong heroine and challenging hero. There are a number of intriguing situations that develop, limited angst. I fun read.
This was a great story. I have it a four star due to the epilogue and ending. After such a wonderful love story with trials and tribulations the end was lousy.
Can't explain it, I just didn't like it.
This is second time I have read this book. My kindle collection is growing. Like having the close to hand. Pam's books are as enjoyable readung a 2nd, 3rd, or yet another times. Once again this one touched my heart. Precious love stories when a man sees the beauty in a woman that doesn't always show on the outside. I had forgotten the ending and I loved it even more this time. In time I will have them all. Right now I have 8 books in my kindle. I will work to get more.
What can I say about this storey Princess was the only daughter of a an Oil King. She was a very proper young lady and a very determined young lady. Along comes Tom (or whatever name he is calling himself at the moment). He sweeps his Cessa off her feet and without intending to he falls head over heels in love. Cessa knew the instant she set eyes on this man that this was THE ONE!! Oh please read it and find out how it all works out.
